ABOUT ME

Chandra Yonzon is a well-known public figure among Australia’s Nepalese and wider communities. From a modest upbringing in Nepal, Chandra is today a successful Melbourne-based entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist and cultural ambassador.

With a professional background in hospitality, Chandra migrated to Melbourne in 1989 before opening the now reputed Gurkhas restaurant chain, Hotel Dolma, Gurkhas Travel and Rohdi Ghar Nepalese restaurant in Melbourne.

Chandra is highly involved in Australia’s Nepalese community, co-founding and serving as Vice President of Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) Australia. Chandra works towards promoting tourism, business, cultural awareness and bilateral relations between Victoria and Nepal, serving as Honorary Consul General of Nepal to Victoria (2008-present).

With a vision for strengthened community relations, Chandra strives to bridge the gap between Australia and Nepal, serving as chairman of Nepalese Voice and My Nepal TV (MNTV) Australia media outlets.

In 2008, Chandra founded Greenhill Education Group Pty Ltd t/a RGIT Australia, and today serves as the institute’s CEO and founding director. Chandra is passionate about providing education to all students, and has also served on the Board of Directors at UIA since 2017.

Chandra owes his success to his beautiful family, including his wife, Laxmi, his two children, Seruna and Rabi, and granddaughter, Aaliyah.
